Easy Recipe - Slow Cooked Chicken

Looking for a super easy, slow cooked primal chicken recipe? Look no further! A slow cooker, or crock pot, is one of the best additions you can make to your primal kitchen. It helps you make easy, time-saving meals.

To make this easy chicken recipe, you will need:

  • whole chicken, half chicken, or chicken breasts
  • broccoli
  • cauliflower
  • carrots
  • chicken broth (or water with added spices)
  • thyme
  • basil
  • oregano
  • other spices as desired

Wash chicken and cut if needed to fit in cooker. Add broth or water to cooker and add chicken and vegetables. Add spices to taste. Cook on high for about 4 hours, or on low for 6-7 hours. It's a colorful mix and the chicken comes out moist and tasty.

Crock Pot Chicken

Note that other meat can be used: beef, turkey, rabbit, etc. You can make your own broth, buy natural broth, or make your own mix with water, spices, or even juices (no sugars added).

To save even more time, the broccoli, cauliflower and carrots can usually be found pre-cut and bundled together, so you just add the chicken and spices. Add enough chicken and one could eat for a whole week on this low cost and time effective meal.

Easy Recipe - Fire Steak

The title says it all – to make a superb dinner all you need is fire and some meat!

For our backyard primal BBQ we used the following:

  • simple charcoal grill
  • New York bone in steak
  • olive oil
  • spices (thyme, basil, garlic)
Fire Steak

Easy steps:

  1. Marinate meat in oil and spices (about 15 minutes or longer).
  2. Start fire (small charcoal grills or fancy grills with gadgets both work great).
  3. Add steaks to fire.
  4. Cook until done.
  5. Eat.

For our feast we also added steamed broccoli and cauliflower, easily cooked in a small steamer. They can also be steamed over the stove, or just served raw with the steak. Steak with Vegetables

It doesn't get much more primal than this, folks.

Slow Cooked Rabbit

Rabbit is a lean, healthy source of protein and quite primal. Many folks raise their own rabbits, or obtain naturally-fed rabbits from local farms or markets.

Rabbit is actually easy to cook and can be substituted for chicken in most recipes. Here's a nice slow cooked rabbit recipe to enjoy.

  • 2 whole rabbits, cut into serving pieces
  • sea salt
  • pepper
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 15 oz diced tomatoes
  • 1 med onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 t rosemary
  • 1/2 t thyme
  • crushed red pepper
  • 1 lb carrots
  • 1 cup dry white wine

Brown rabbit pieces in large skillet. Salt and pepper the rabbit to taste. Rabbit

Place the rabbit in a crock pot. Mix the rest of the ingredients together and pour over rabbit, stirring to coat. Cover and cook on low for 6- 8 hours. Cooked Rabbit

Spicy Red Snapper

Here's a hot little recipe to add some spice to your red snapper. Be ready for the wonderful aroma as it bakes, too!

  • red snapper fillets (about 16 oz total)
  • 1/4 c lime juice
  • 1 T lemon juice
  • 1 t chili powder
  • 1 plum tomato (chopped)
  • 4 green onions (sliced)
  • 1/2 c chopped Anaheim pepper (or other pepper, if too hot for taste)
  • 1/2 c chopped red bell pepper
  • cilantro (optional, as garnish)

Place red snapper in a shallow baking dish. Combine juices and chili powder in a measuring cup. Pour over snapper. Marinate 10 minutes, turning once or twice. Sprinkle onions, tomato and peppers over snapper.

Snapper

Cover and bake at 350 F for 30 minutes or until fish flakes in center. Let stand, covered, 4 minutes before serving. Garnish with cilantro.
